| West Oakland B.A.R.T. Station Neighborhood Transit Oriented Development 12 Square blocks, $120 Million. Oakland, CA Situated in the geographical transit heart of the first East Bay BART train stop, West Oakland has not experienced the same growth and revitalization over the last 10 years as the rest of the Bay Area’s transit stops. Surrounded by Bay Area interstates and the connection to the Bay Bridge, lack of thoughtful planning, housing density and retail presence has made the micro-community of the East Bay appear to be desolate and in lack of a vibrant neighborhood feeling that many Bay Area neighborhoods enjoy. RFFs were prepared with feasibility analysis and market studies for large retail venues such as grocery/entertainment in existing buildings as well as condo and apartment market studies for new buildings. Planning was done to revamp the vast transit parking lot, central post office and streets in order to improve conditions of parking and landscaped areas. |
