Interior Design by Cuoco Black. Mid-City Gym is located in close proximity to Times Square and the Port Authority Terminal on 42nd Street in Manhattan. The project consisted of full build-out of a large cellar space in a new high-rise building, including access to 42nd Street via stairs and elevator. The gym features a basic design using a low budget and in expensive materials to create a unique look. Due to New York City’s strict rules for a Gymnasium, or “Physical Culture Establishment”, Chien Dao Studio worked with the client to prepare the required filings for the Department of Buildings and the Board of Standards and Appeals.
