OAKLAND 14TH ST

This project was brought to Chien Dao Studio by an associate from the school of business where development courses taken at the a University of California, Berkeley, while attending for a Masters of Architecture, this Lake Merritt Oakland project is meant to provide transitional housing for young abs old in an affordable manner. most municipalities have their own definition of micro housing, but fortunately Oaklands is somewhat similar to New York City's. intended to be wood frame on a concrete pedestal the long and shallow site only allows for a single loaded residential scheme. in this case the soutern exposure and set backs would allow us to create a small balcony for each unit that would allow a private extension of the 300 square foot interior space. small space will be contrasted with large windows.
